A New Tribute for National Day: Seven Mosques to Carry the Names of the Emirates

The UAE President has directed the naming of seven new mosques in Abu Dhabi after each of the emirates, creating a national tribute that will open to worshippers in January.

The places of worship will collectively accommodate around 6,000 people, offering communities a new spiritual and cultural landmark as the country marks National Day.

Officials highlighted that the initiative is intended to carry the values of the Union into the future, reinforcing the principles of generosity, unity and progress that shaped the UAE’s formation. Dr Omar Al Darei noted that the project reflects a commitment to instilling these ideals in generations to come.

The mosques feature modern architectural designs rooted in Islamic heritage, combining traditional artistic elements with contemporary interpretation. Their development was carried out through joint efforts between the Presidential Court, the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, and Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport.

As the nation celebrates another year of unity and achievement, the new mosques stand as a symbolic reminder of the shared identity that brings the Emirates together.
