Dubai's Greening Project: 2.5 Million Flowers Bloom

Dubai is making a remarkable shift in its desert landscape with the launch of the 'Green Dubai Project,' a Dh245-million initiative aimed at planting 2.5 million flowers and ornamental plants, along with 6,500 trees at important intersections on Sheikh Zayed and Al Khail Roads.

This project seeks to harmonize urban development with vibrant green spaces, improving the visual appeal of the city's roadways.

Dawoud Al Hajri, the Director General of Dubai Municipality, highlighted the project's dedication to green infrastructure and environmental sustainability, utilizing smart irrigation systems. In just 2023, the municipality has planted over 185,000 trees, increasing the emirate's green areas by 234 hectares.

On Sheikh Zayed Road, significant efforts were made to enhance intersections with Al Yelayes and Al Jameel Streets, covering an area of843,000 square meters and incorporating nearly 1.5 million seedlings along with 3,500 trees. Likewise, the intersections on Al Khail Street underwent substantial planting through three major projects, contributing an additional 1 million seedlings and 3,000 trees across 625,000 square meters.
