In the world of horology, few designs have achieved the everlasting beauty of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso. Introduced in 1931, its distinctive swiveling case was initially conceived to protect the watch face during polo matches. Over time, the Reverso has transcended its utilitarian origins, evolving into a canvas for artistic expression and craftsmanship. The latest iteration, the Reverso One 'Precious Colours', continues this legacy, marrying intricate artistry with mechanical precision.
At first glance, the watch effortlessly draws the eye with its iconic rectangular silhouette that has become synonymous with the Reverso line. But it's only upon closer inspection that ‘Precious Colours' truly reveals its uniqueness. The reverse side of the case showcases a mesmerizing geometric pattern, finely hand-decorated using the grand feu enamel technique. This age-old process involves multiple layers, each fired at high temperatures to achieve a lustrous and enduring finish. The result is a rich mosaic of interlocking shapes, evoking the bold aesthetics of the Art Deco era.
Complementing the enamel work are rows of brilliant-cut diamonds, set with precision to accentuate the watch's contours. These gems not only enhance the visual appeal but also reflect the brand’s jewelry-making expertise – each case requires 40 hours of meticulous gem-setting to place 277 diamonds totaling 1.59 carats.
The front dial offers a contrasting simplicity: a white mother-of-pearl face adorned with slender Arabic numerals and dauphine hands, all framed by diamond-set gadroons. It’s a balance of elegance and detail that feels distinctly Jaeger-LeCoultre.
Ticking inside is the manually wound Calibre 846, an in-house movement tailored to fit the watch's slim profile and featuring 38 hours of power reserve. The watch comes in several versions, with the white gold being the most exclusive – only 10 pieces will be produced.
