Inspectors visited 86 institutions across ten curricula between November 2024 and February 2025, observing lessons, interviewing staff, and surveying more than 90,000 stakeholders, parents, students and teachers alike. This comprehensive approach ensured that the ratings reflected both classroom realities and community feedback, reinforcing Itqan’s reputation as a tool for genuine improvement rather than mere compliance.
The rapid climb in school quality owes much to SPEA’s complementary initiatives, which have trained over 3,600 educators and leaders since 2022 through intensive workshops and a dedicated self‑assessment framework. By equipping schools to diagnose their own strengths and gaps, the programme fosters a culture of continuous development rather than one‑off inspections.
Ali Al‑Hosani, SPEA’s Director General, describes Itqan as ‘a partnership for progress,’ noting that honest input from families and staff guides each school’s growth plan. As Sharjah’s private sector charts this upward trajectory, the Itqan programme stands at the heart of a broader vision: building resilient, forward‑looking schools that put students’ success first.
