Dubai’s Abra Services Switch to New Summer Timetable Starting May 2

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a shift to a summer schedule for its abra and marine transport services, beginning Friday, May 2. The new seasonal timetable aims to optimise trip frequencies and improve user experience during the hotter months.

As part of its broader 'Seasonal Network' initiative, the RTA will now rely on predictive analytics and real-time data to shape marine transport operations throughout the year. This includes adjusting service timings and frequencies for abras, water taxis, and ferries based on fluctuations in passenger demand, occupancy rates, and city-wide events.

The changes are designed to create a more responsive transport network while maintaining customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. With Dubai’s festive calendar and public holidays often causing sudden surges in usage, the RTA says the new system will allow for faster, more targeted adjustments to routes and schedules.

Occupancy levels and revenue generated by each service will also feed into ongoing scheduling decisions, ensuring that the network remains both sustainable and convenient for commuters and tourists alike.
