Driverless taxis have officially become part of Abu Dhabi's transportation landscape. TXAI, the UAE capital’s autonomous vehicle pilot program, now offers direct service between prominent city locations and Zayed International Airport.
The new route connects passengers from areas such as YasIsland and Saadiyat Island, including stops at landmarks like Louvre Abu Dhabi, NYU Abu Dhabi, Mamsha Al Saadiyat, and Etihad Arena, to the recently renamed Zayed International Airport (AUH).
Originally launched in 2023, TXAI operates using AI and sensor-based technology that navigates traffic and road conditions in real time. A recent video released by Abu Dhabi Mobility illustrates the journey from pickup to airport entry, highlighting the city's advancements in smart mobility.
Autonomous transport is no longer limited to pilot trials; it is now operating on select public routes as part of Abu Dhabi’s broader mobility infrastructure.
