UAE Leads the Region in Closing the Gender Gap

The UAE has once again positioned itself as a leader in gender equality, climbing from 74th to 69th in the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2025. This makes it the highest-ranking country in the MENA region, with notable progress in political empowerment and workforce inclusion.

A major highlight is the UAE’s achievement of full gender parity in parliamentary representation – a milestone shared only with countries like Rwanda, Mexico, and Nicaragua. The nation now ranks 32nd globally in political empowerment, thanks to a score of 37.2% in that sub-index.

But the country’s progress isn’t limited to politics. In contrast to global trends, the UAE has seen a 4.5% year-on-year rise in women assuming leadership roles, according to LinkedIn’s Economic Graph data. Overall female hiring is also up by 2% annually.

UAE women are also showing strong adaptability to the demands of the tech era. They’re 28% more likely than men to have multi-domain work experience and are slightly more proactive in acquiring new skills – including AI – highlighting their growing edge in an evolving job market.
