UAE Flag Day Unites Citizens and Expats Across the Country

Celebrated each year on November 3, it honours the flag first raised on December 2, 1971 – a symbol of the UAE’s spirit and the values it stands for: green for growth and hope, white for peace, black for strength, and red for courage and unity.

Introduced in 2013, the day celebrates the UAE’s remarkable journey and the pride of both Emiratis and expatriates who’ve built their lives here. Across the country, streets, homes, and workplaces will be awash in the national colours as millions join in to mark the occasion.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has called on residents to raise the flag at 11am sharp, uniting the nation in one collective salute. And a local tip for those joining in – check your flag every 45 days to keep it vibrant and well-kept.

As flags rise across skylines and communities, the moment captures what the UAE has always represented – strength in diversity, pride in progress, and hope for the future.
