The festival made its debut in 2023 and immediately stood out as one of the most memorable cultural events of the year, scattering light sculptures, projections and interactive works across beaches, islands and urban landmarks. The upcoming edition, supported by Abu Dhabi Culture and Public Art Abu Dhabi, is expected to run into January 2026, with exact closing dates still to be confirmed.
Taking its name from the Arabic word for 'lighthouse or guiding light', Manar is a city-wide celebration of art and illumination. Last year’s theme, 'Grounding Light', brought together more than 20 regional and international artists who transformed sites including the Corniche, Saadiyat Island, Lulu Island, Fahid Island, Jubail Mangrove Park and the Eastern Mangroves into glowing showcases.
This year’s theme has not yet been announced, but the concept remains the same: to reimagine familiar spaces through light. Visitors can expect a mix of installations that are designed to dazzle, invite interaction, or encourage quiet reflection, blending spectacle with thoughtful storytelling.
By transforming public spaces into open-air galleries, Manar Abu Dhabi has quickly become a highlight of the city’s cultural calendar. Whether you’re strolling along the Corniche at night or catching an installation set against the sea, the festival offers a fresh way to experience Abu Dhabi – one illuminated artwork at a time.
