The autonomous vehicles were developed by Autogo, a subsidiary of K2, in partnership with EMX, the logistics arm of 7X. Licensed with official number plates, they use advanced sensors and navigation systems to weave through city streets, completing last-mile logistics independently.
For now, the trial is limited to Masdar City, but the vision extends across the emirate. By 2040, Abu Dhabi aims for a quarter of all journeys to be made through smart transport solutions – from driverless taxis and automated buses to delivery robots.
Officials highlight that the technology is about more than novelty. Autonomous deliveries are expected to reduce emissions, ease traffic congestion and make everyday services faster and more reliable. For residents, it could mean quicker food deliveries, smoother parcel drop-offs and a glimpse of a more futuristic city.
