Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation and CEO of Expo City Dubai Authority, called the announcement ‘a milestone in the UAE’s green transformation journey’. The new licence gives sustainability-led businesses practical support – from access to the region’s first Green Intellectual Property Office to opportunities for collaboration within a community designed for climate innovation.
The Green Innovation District will bring together research labs, light manufacturing, and urban farming in one purpose-built environment. Instead of a conventional business zone, it’s being shaped as an open network where ideas can be tested, refined, and turned into tangible solutions.
Expo City Dubai already stands as a blueprint for the country’s sustainability ambitions, from the Tera pavilion to its expanding partnerships with global clean-tech pioneers. The Green Licence builds on that foundation, giving forward-thinking companies a place to grow – and the UAE a clear path toward a more sustainable economy.
