New Dubai Metro Route Announced on the Red Line

Commuters on the Dubai Metro will soon have more options during rush hour, with the Roads and Transport Authority confirming the addition of a new peak-hour route on the Red Line.

Alongside the regular services from Centrepoint to Expo 2020 Station and Centrepoint to Life Pharmacy Station, a new route will now run from Centrepoint to Al Fardan Exchange. The service will operate only during peak times – 7am to 9am in the morning and 4pm to 8pm in the evening – covering most of the Red Line and aiming to ease congestion during the busiest periods of the day.

The change is designed to give commuters a more seamless journey, cutting down on overcrowding and improving flow across the network. With more than 600,000 daily riders, the Red Line remains the city’s busiest metro route, making small adjustments like these vital for smoother travel.

The update comes as part of a wider push to expand Dubai’s rail network. The Blue Line, currently under development, is scheduled to open in 2029 and will add over 30 kilometres of track and 14 new stations. Looking further ahead, the emirate’s 2040 Urban Master Plan envisions more than 140 metro stations covering over 228 square kilometres, more than doubling today’s network.
