According to UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence Omar Al Olama, the project’s first phase could open in the second quarter of 2026, while technical and economic reviews are still ongoing with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority. The initial route will stretch 17 kilometres, featuring 11 stations and the capacity to carry up to 20,000 passengers per hour.
Built in collaboration with the Dubai Government and the RTA, the system will offer direct point-to-point travel at speeds of up to 160 km/h, eventually expanding into multiple loops across the city. The Boring Company aims for future capacity exceeding 100,000 passengers per hour, transforming urban commuting into a seamless underground journey.
Announced during the 2025 World Governments Summit, Musk described the project as 'a wormhole through the city,' comparing the experience to instantly jumping between destinations. Inspired by the success of the Las Vegas Loop – which has already transported over two million passengers since 2021 – the Dubai Loop will use all-electric, zero-emission vehicles to help ease congestion and redefine how the city moves.
