UAE Confirms a Four-Day Weekend for Eid Al Etihad 2025

The UAE has officially confirmed a long weekend to mark Eid Al Etihad this December, giving residents another reason to look forward to the end of the year. The national celebration – formerly known as Union Day and UAE National Day – will open the month with a major public holiday across the country.

According to the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, Monday December 1 and Tuesday December 2 will be official holidays for employees of ministries and federal entities, with work resuming on Wednesday December 3. The private-sector announcement is expected soon, and residents are already watching closely to see if the long weekend will apply across the board.

Eid Al Etihad embraces the day’s original spirit through its Arabic name, which translates to 'festival of the Union.' It reflects the country’s founding story and the national pride that fills the UAE every December, as flags rise across cities and families come together to celebrate.

As always, the long weekend will bring plenty of things to do. Fireworks are confirmed at Dubai Festival City’s Festival Bay, Global Village, and The Beach at JBR, with more displays expected to be announced. Family events and cultural programmes will also take place across Dubai, including activities at Expo City, Dubai Parks and Resorts, Al Seef, and other major destinations – making it one of the most festive weekends of the year.
