The plan adds a new 850-metre lane for traffic coming from Ras Al Khor Street toward the interchange near Nasser bin Lootah Mosque, while widening capacity for vehicles turning left from Al Rabat Street toward Nad Al Hamar. A dedicated storage lane at the junction is also being reconfigured to reduce queuing from Al Rabat Street.
Once complete, the corridor’s throughput is set to rise from 4,800 to 6,400 vehicles per hour – a 33 per cent increase – improving flow particularly at peak times.
For residents, the headline change is time: typical journeys through the area are expected to drop from 15 to 11 minutes, cutting travel by almost 30 per cent. The upgrade will benefit routes toward Rashidiya, Al Qusais and Dubai International Airport, with knock-on relief for surrounding neighbourhoods.
