Accident Free Day Returns on 25 August

Accident Free Day is back on Monday 25 August 2025, timed with the first day of the school year. Led by the Ministry of the Interior, the nationwide push is designed to sharpen road awareness across all emirates and set the tone for a safer term ahead.

Taking part is simple: register in advance on the Ministry of the Interior website using UAE Pass and agree to the official Accident Free Day pledge. You’ll receive a confirmation email and a participation certificate – the important bit is signing up before the day.

Keep to the pledge on 25 August and 4 black points will be automatically removed from your driving licence on Monday 15 September. The deduction only applies to points already on your record.

The pledge itself is straightforward: maintain a safe following distance, yield to pedestrians, always wear your seatbelt, stick to posted speed limits, avoid using a handheld phone while driving, and give way to emergency vehicles, police, public service vehicles and official convoys.

Police say previous editions have coincided with fewer accidents. Consider this your cue to plan routes, leave a little earlier and drive to the letter of the rules – a cleaner record and safer roads go hand in hand.
