A Five-Day Weekend Could Be on the Cards This December

Circle the date – UAE National Day falls on Tuesday 2 December 2025, marking the country’s 54th year. Under the public-holiday resolution, 2 and 3 December are the official days off, which already breaks up the working week.

There’s a chance the break could stretch. The law allows non-Eid holidays to be moved to the start or end of the week to create longer weekends. If authorities add Monday 1 December in addition to the statutory days, residents would enjoy five consecutive days off when combined with the weekend (Saturday 29 November to Wednesday 3 December).

A more likely scenario is a reshuffle: moving the 3 December holiday to Monday 1 December. That would still deliver a generous four-day weekend (Saturday 29 November to Tuesday 2 December) without adding an extra day.

Another variable sits nearby on the calendar. UAE Commemoration Day falls on Sunday 30 November and is not typically a public holiday. However, the law gives local governments scope to declare additional days off. If that happens, it could further extend the National Day break.

Nothing is confirmed until official announcements are issued. For now, the calendar maths is promising – and December’s long weekend is shaping up to be one to plan for.
