Dubai Airports confirmed that by early 2025, this advanced system – already being piloted in select areas – will be expanded across Terminals 1 and 3 at Dubai International Airport. The new scanners use 3D imaging and AI to accurately screen carry-on items without the need to unpack electronics or personal liquids.
This update not only speeds up security procedures but also enhances safety and passenger comfort. Once fully implemented, travelers will be able to carry liquids of up to 2 liters in hand luggage and breeze through security with devices left in their bags.
The technology is based on computed tomography (CT) scanning, similar to medical imaging, which provides a detailed view of baggage contents and reduces the need for manual checks. Airports in London, Amsterdam, and several major US hubs are already adopting similar systems.
