UAE Banks Move to In-App Authentication for Online Payments

Instead of receiving codes before confirming purchases, customers will now authenticate payments directly within their bank’s mobile apps. This update applies to online shopping, QR-code transactions and other digital payments, reflecting a nationwide push towards stronger security and more streamlined experiences.

The Central Bank of the UAE confirmed that the change will make digital transactions easier and safer. Customers are encouraged to update their apps and familiarise themselves with the ‘Authentication via App’ feature to avoid interruptions when shopping online or paying through QR codes.
